How to Grow the Republican Party

The first thing we need to do is acknowledge the fact that Hispanics will be the Majority in Texas in just eight years.  Once we understand the trends, we realize that our approach must be something that actually helps the community, rather than the tactics the Party has used for decades, only showing up at election time.

Those days are over with.  We understand we need to connect with parents.  We understand our community is in crisis, and we’re willing to do what must be done in order to advance our community.  What does that mean?  It means we’re willing to do the work required to make a real impact.  For too long, we’ve avoided the issues within the Hispanic community.  We’ve always felt Hispanics were Conservative, but didn’t know it.  Despite our efforts to invite Hispanic businessmen and leaders to meetings, it never lasted. Eventually, they succumbed to the pressures of their families and went back to the Democrat Party.

Why is that?  It’s because it wasn’t real.  There was no substance.  That’s why we developed the Stepping Stones Education Initiative…as a tool to help us advance the education of children.  We’ve learned that knocking on the door of a stranger to ask for a vote, when we’ve never been there before, really comes across the wrong way.  Hispanics already know Republicans only come around at election time.  It’s time to take a different approach.

The way our Party is structured, Hispanic inclusion should be a cinch.  It starts with a concerned and aware County Chairman.  If the leadership in the county is supportive, then we can help.  Working with the local Party, we help to develop a group of people who are committed and share our experiences with them.  We talk about Stepping Stones, and about politics.  We figure out what works and host forums where we discuss real issues.  Before you know it, you are growing the Republican Party.
