Facing-Off with General Sanchez, Democratic Candidate for US Senate (TX)

When I first heard the Democratic Party had their eyes set on Lt. General Ricardo Sanchez to run for Texas’ US Senate seat, I thought he’d be a formidable opponent.

That is, until I started reading up on his views, which are hard to find. I did run across a blog quoting him saying, “I decided that socially, I’m a progressive, a fiscal conservative and a strong supporter, obviously, of national defense.” After reading this one sentence, I knew his foundation was shaky…ungrounded. I can understand the national defense statement, but to say you are socially progressive and fiscally conservative, in my opinion, is a contradiction in terms.

How can you say you’re fiscally conservative and support Obama’s government dependency philosophy? Doesn’t he realize that the reason we’re in such fiscal trouble is because of out of control programs and entitlements? Doesn’t he realize that if we expect people to pull themselves up, they need to break the cycle of poverty and not be dependent on the government for their food, insurance and medical services?

It’s the same ‘ol same ‘ol. Over-promising and under-delivering…the mantra of the Democratic Party.

We can expect the usual rhetoric from Sanchez, who is still playing hide-and-seek regarding details of his plans to provide solutions. Sure, he’ll throw everything but the kitchen sink at the Hispanic community, offering to provide social services to all those in “need.” He’ll say it’s time to unite around common goals and talk about family values.

But in reality, all he’ll really do, is prolong the time it takes to pull our Hispanic community from the path of self-destruction and reliance on the government.

Hispanics…rather than fall in line with the rhetoric…we must see through the smoke and mirrors, because in the end, there’s no way, in his own words, a “social progressive” has anything in common with the core beliefs of our community.

Social progressives are behind the dismantling of our constitution. They are the ones who are trying to remove God from our Pledge of Allegiance and from all public buildings and schools. They are the ones who you see protesting the American Soldier’s funerals who have died in combat. They DON’T believe our nation was created with the hand of God…and they’re the ones who are offended with nativity scenes in public places.

Is this the kind of person we want representing us in Washington? He’s been a player on the chess field his entire career…now the Democrats want to use him for their purpose…why? Because he’s Hispanic. They think his last name is enough to draw Hispanic votes…especially when coupled with the Obama Talking Points.

We must be prepared…I am certain they will be. I don’t know why I feel this way, but to me, Sanchez is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Excellent and accurate op-ed on Lt. General Ricardo Sanchez. Sanchez represents a long list of Democrats who hide their liberal identity by wearing their “progressive” sheep clothing. Conservative voters are not hoodwinked, they realize when Democrats say they are progressive what they really mean is they are liberal.
