Addressing the 800 lb Gorilla

gorilla-625286_1280No one is willing to go on record or provide solutions for our Immigration crisis in Texas.  Our recent economic turmoil and constant attention to the budget/deficit, puts illegal immigration, once again, on the back burner.

No one is willing to talk about it…in fact, it’s been said that it’s just not a priority right now.

Not a priority?

The urgency is lacking, and I’m afraid we are in denial regarding the serious nature of illegal immigration.  Sure, we can talk about securing the border, but how many times have you heard “True Conservatives” talking about that?  It’s really getting old.  No solutions…no suggestions…no nothing.

If we as a Republican Party want to build our strength through Hispanic Inclusion, then we better start paying attention to the 800 lb gorilla in the room.  We have a Senate race between a few uber-Conservatives.  They proudly boast they are the only TRUE Conservatives in the race.  In each fund raising letter and email blast, they talk about their record, but who has the guts to talk about immigration?  Who has solutions?

Hispanics are waiting to see how this all pans out…waiting to see who has the vision and leadership to pull us from the brink of collapse.  Is that too harsh?  I don’t think so…in fact, it’s quite predictable.  Look at any other country who hasn’t managed their borders…they’re overrun with unpatriotic, anti-Christian, anti-Capitalism fanatics who are determined to destroy the country from within.

In our last legislative session, our Texas representatives were forced to dip into the reserves (rainy day fund) in order to balance our budget.  In the end, teachers lost jobs and Democrats gained valuable positioning with teachers.  Why is it that a state with 36% of all American new jobs is short on money?

Simple…because we are caught in a trap.  We can’t ask who’s here illegally…we can’t verify the legal status of students, we can’t deny medical care to illegals in our hospitals and we have no way of controlling the government hand-outs.  The money we spend educating non-English speaking students is mind boggling and the fear our legislators have to do something about it is even more mind boggling.

When will someone do something to protect the future of our state and most importantly, our families?

I know it’s Primary “season,” and no Republican in his right mind would “risk” putting himself/herself out there, but do you think the gangs care about our Republican Primary?  Do you think human smugglers and drug runners care?  It’s time to wake up and smell the cafe’ before it’s too late.

At this point, I have no idea who will rise to the occasion.. guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

Great article, Duke…..can we afford to wait and see what happens? Any of our GOP candidates willing to step up to the proverbial plate and make this a priority for Texas? It certainly won’t be the Liberal party.

  2. Thanks Carol…it’s unfortunate that our representatives don’t pay attention to this as they should. I believe they have decided it’s not the “hill” they want to die on…
