Birdwell Draws Line in Sand, Hispanic Republicans Support Bill

Today I read an article in the Austin American Statesman regarding a proposed bill on Higher Education. The author, Senator Brian Birdwell (SD-22) would like to end state funded financial aid to illegal citizens, releasing Texas residents from the financial burden and using that money for Texas residents who can prove residency. For the record, I fully support the Bill.

According to the Statesman, an “angry Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, D-San Antonio, insisted the change will unfairly punish college-age children for a mistake by their parents.” The Statesman also added several comments from Democratic representatives who’s summation was that Senator Birdwell’s bill is unfailry forcing illegal students to pay out-of-state tuition, denying them of their right to Texas taxpayer’s money for financial aid.

It is absurd to think about someone who is NOT a citizen as having equal rights as a U.S. citizens. Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr., D-Brownsville, used this Bible verse to underscore his displeasure at the proposal “You shall have the same law for the stranger, and for one from your own country.”

You see, “they” pull the bible out when it’s convenient, but when it comes to abortion, they run from it. When it comes to God in government, they avoid it…saying it’s unconstitutional. They can’t have it both ways, and the bible I’m familiar with says a lot about nations and laws of nations. Being American matters, and if you think it doesn’t, ask the Veterans who fought for this country if it matters.

What the Democrats are doing is by design. They are crippling the Hispanic community by making it dependent on the government for food stamps, SSI, unemployment and now, financial aid for college. They have taken away the pride of the community and any initiative or incentive to strive for independence. They expect us to keep voting for them because of the money they distribute…sorry…those days are OVER.

They think we’re dumb. They think we need them. They think we can’t do anything without their help. They’re wrong! Democrats cannot keep Hispanics tied down, crippled by laziness and accustomed to handouts. We need to pull ourselves up and help each other.

Soon, we’ll have to draw a line in the sand and choose a side. Will Hispanics align themselves with Christian values, Conservative principles and pledge allegiance to America? Or will they claim loyalty to Mexico?

My bet is on America…it always has been…always will be.

Illegal parents who came to Texas with their small children KNOW they’re not legal residents of Texas…they know they are illegal…trust me. To think they are surprised now, after years of receiving “free” money, we would stop the flow, is a joke. Parents of illegal children should take on the responsibility themselves to educate their children. If they want their child to go to college, they can go…no one’s stopping them. They’re just going to pay out-of state tuition, no different than an American student living outside of Texas will pay.

We (GOPisForMe) have been working in the district, meeting newly active Hispanics, Conservative people…and we’re encouraged by the surge of this movement. We know we’re headed in the right direction. Personally, I haven’t spoken to anyone who’s buying the lies…they see what the Democrat’s plan is, and the Liberal agenda has a putrid stench.

Sign-up on GOPisForMe and join the movement…we need all Conservative Hispanics to stand strong with Senator Brian Birdwell as he advances. He needs to know he has Hispanic Conservatives right by his side…willing to do what’s necessary to change the course of our community, positioning Hispanics to accelerate in the years to come.

If we continue to allow law breakers, we will cease to be a lawful country. Look at Mexico.
