Press Release : Falls County Cinco de Mayo

The public is invited to attend a Falls County Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Saturday, May 7th at Tomlinson Hill (Old Settlers Campground) between Lott and Marlin. The event will begin at 11am and end at 6pm. The event is free and all are encouraged to attend this family friendly celebration.

There will be games and entertainment for children including a bounce house, a train ride and pinatas. There will be food booths and contests including a jalapeno eating contest and a Grito contest. Winners of an essay-writing contest by Falls County students will be presented awards by former Justice of the 10th Court of Appeals, Felipe Reyna.

There will be music and dancing. The outstanding musical artistry of Jesse Garza and Acoustic Dream, of San Antonio, will perform as well as the Ballet Folklorico Las Estrellas de Waco and the Danza St. Anna Dancers of Rosebud.

There will be a special presentation to honor the descendants of General Ignacio Zaragoza de Sequin, the commander of the Mexican Army in the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862 in victory over the French army.
